Zohra Mithani
Co-FounderWith over 5+ years of experience in the field of theatre arts, Zohra started her journey as an actor and has performed in over 15+ productions. She gained her Master’s in Theatre arts and stagecraft from the Academy of Theatre Arts (UOM) in 2023. She is a sportsperson turned actor turned writer-director. “Through Kanyaa aur Kahaniyaa, I wish to let my artistry shape my journey as a creator and to blur the lines between different artistic expressions and communities.”
Sawani Upadhye
Co-Founder
Immersed in the world of theatre since childhood and gaining experience over the years, Sawani has developed a profound connection with the art form. Graduating in German language, her passion for theatre led her to pursue it professionally. After performing onstage and contributing in various aspects of amateur and experimental theatre in 2023, she successfully earned her Master of Theatre Arts degree from the Academy of Theatre Arts, (UOM).
Through ‘Kanyaa aur Kahaniyaa’, her goal is to contribute to the theatrical landscape by engaging in innovative experiments as a performer as well as a creator with fresh perspectives. For Sawani, this is a way of giving back to the art form that has shaped her artistic identity.

I got a chance to work in the direction team on one of the brilliantly written & Directed plays ‘The Garden of Eve’ by Zohra Mithani (Kaniyaa aur Khaniyaa). We went through a 2-month preparation time where we extensively worked on physical movements to showcase complex emotions which the character goes through in the storyline. The process was unique & very well thought which led to a beautiful performance.

Sapna has been passionately involved in theatre for the past five years. However, her talents extend far beyond acting. She is a hands-on stage manager. Her dedication has led her to forge connections with numerous theatre groups Like Rangshila Theatre Group. having been a vital part of over 10 production plays, including Thinking Out Loud, The Garden of Eve and A Doll’s House to name a few.
“Working in 2 productions with Kanyaa aur Kahaniyaa has consciously helped me layer my craft as an actor, it was the first time I have acted in a movement-based play, which was ‘The Garden Of Eve’ – the devising of emotions through movement has helped me challenge my craft not just mentally but physically too!”
